I am currently in Wisconsin, where it is 70 and sunny and quite frankly one of the most beautiful days of the year so far. Yesterday it hit low 80s, and of course we spent all our free time outside. Being outside constantly reminds me that we need to protect our planet and help reverse climate change, so that way we can continue to enjoy the outdoors. As crass as it may sound, it honestly scares me to bring a child into this world, as I am unsure if there will be a livable planet to even sustain them throughout their whole life, or generations to follow. Side note: I am not planning on having children for a long while, but these are the types of situations that you must consider and think about as you get older. Harsh reality, baby. Though Earth Day was on Friday, and I am writing this on a Sunday, I want this post to be a resource to you, on how you can help reverse and fight climate change, in just a few easy steps!

If you know us, you know our main passion is sloth conservation and along with that comes environmental conservation. It is no secret that climate change is threatening our world more and more each day, and you may think that there is nothing you can personally do to help combat it, but that’s where you’re wrong! All it takes to change the world is a small group of determined individuals! There are so many small ways that you can alter your lifestyle to help the environment and help us reverse climate change!

Some ways include the following:

-Simply recycle.

-When you’re done using beer or soda plastic rings, cut them before you throw them away.

-Turn off the water when you brush your teeth.

-Don’t buy products from companies whose pesticides are harming wildlife. And if you have to buy from them, buy organic. For example, I will never buy from Dole, due to their negative impact on sloths (their pesticides result in sloths having seizures, being born with only one claw, and so forth). In this situation and case, there are other products to easily substitute for Dole products. However, Chiquita isn’t as bad, but their normal food uses a lot of pesticides, and our grocery store ONLY sells Chiquita bananas, so I just get the organic bananas from Chiquita.

-When buying clothes, check the company’s environmental status and sustainability.

-Go on daily walks and bring a pair of gloves and a garbage bag and help pick up trash.

-When you are out and about, not just hiking or walking, but driving or just wandering around, practice Leave No Trace.

While there are so many more things you can do, on a global scale, do not, I repeat, DO NOT! underestimate the sheer power that making little changes can have!
