Another sanctuary that rehabilitates sloths, as well as other marvelous wildlife, is one located on the Pacific side of Costa Rica: Kids Saving the Rainforest (KSTR). This sanctuary is so full of love and selfless volunteers and employees and 2020 has had a slowly negative/downhill effect on them.
Unfortunately, without being able to secure enough funding for their sanctuary, KSTR has had to turn away new wildlife that desperately needs help and medical care/rehabilitation. KSTR has a goal of taking in wildlife that has been injured or hurt (as well as taking in orphaned baby animals, who have lost their mom). More specifically, KSTR has had no choice but to suspend their Clinical and Rescue efforts, due to not having a significant amount of funds needed to continue this part of their mission. They have had to turn away a multitude of animals that critically need their help, and are only able to provide referrals for these hurt animals, rather than help them themselves (even though they have all the experiences and necessary resources [when they have the appropriate amount of funding] to do so).
Even though 2021 is right around the corner, that doesn't mean that the sanctuaries will be able to just get funding again. 2020 has left a substantial impact on all of us; whether good or bad, that will be long lasting. Unfortunately, the latter part of that statement holds true in the case of KSTR. This sanctuary has and is still doing so much good in the world, that if you can, please check out their tours, information, and even adoption programs (listed in the links below). You won't be disappointed and you could be the reason that a beautiful animal is given a second chance at life.
