While I was originally from Wisconsin, I moved to Jacksonville when I was 13 and spent just over a decade down there. While I was down there, each year I'd help volunteer for our church's non-profit organization, started by a close family friend: Kathy, called Saint Michael's Soldiers. This organization creates and fills stockings that contain items to send over to soldiers (who are stationed overseas), each Christmas. They also write holiday letters to soldiers to be put into the stockings. Even though we are no longer in Florida, we still help out each year by writing Christmas letters for soldiers.
If you are writing Christmas cards and have extra ones you want to help send out, please consider sending a box of filled out Christmas cards (thanking them for their service, talking about your holiday traditions, having a conversation) to the following address:
St. Michael's Soldiers 1382 Coopers Hawk Way
Middleburg, FL, 32068
In addition to Saint Michael's Soldiers, I thought I would do research on other charities that you could help, by donating your time to, for the holidays (as I know donating money is not always feasible).
Please see the links to charities below:
^The above allows you to donate your time, as well as items you have around your hour. For example, Better World Books allows you to donate old books to those who can benefit from it, while Project Linus allows you to find a local chapter and knit blankets and donate to those in need.
If you have the ability to donate money, the following organizations are wonderful this time of year to make donations to. You can even donate in someone's name, as a Christmas present for them.
