Moving from Florida to Wisconsin made me want to go out and explore all Wisconsin has to offer. Something that sets my husband and me apart in our travels is that we like to go off the beaten path and stay in locations that aren't commonly known. While, yes, we love staying in nice resorts and fancy hotels, we love even more experiencing adventures and locations that are not yet oversaturated or known.
The midwest, and more specifically Wisconsin, has so much to offer in terms of beauty and natural landscapes, quaint towns, as well as activities for those of all ages.
Below is my overall itinerary for unique places in Wisconsin you may not have heard of:
Cities:
-New Glarus
-Sheboygan (also known as the Malibu of the Midwest)
-Mount Horeb (known for its trolls. A Norweigan town) -Door County, including Washington Island, Fish Creek, Egg Harbor, Sister Creek, and Sturgeon Bay -Saint German, Wisconsin
-Cedarburg
-Rib Mountain -Lake Geneva -Elkhart Lake -Mineral Point -Whitefish Bay
Activities/Restaurants:
-Cave of the Mounds -Kohler Andrae State Park and the black sand beach (refer to my other blog post about how to get to the location)
-Fall foliage ski lift tour at Rib Mountain State Park -Crystal Lake (where you can have 30 feet visibility below you, it is that clear) -Shalom Wildlife Zoo -Milwaukee Public Museum (most people don't give it a chance. I could spend all day wondering here).
-Don's TV Repair (speakeasy in Milwaukee)
-House on the Rock
-Sea caves on Apostle Island -Al Johnson's (with goats on the roof)
-Lavender fields on Washington Island
-Mars Cheese Castle
-Swing Park
-Safe House (speakeasy)
-Holy Hill and then go over to Fox and Hounds (buy one get one free meal)
